Lake Pichola

The heavenly Lake Pichola is an artificial lake located in the heart of Udaipur, Rajasthan. The oldest and one of the largest lakes of the city, the Lake Pichola observes lakhs of tourists because of its tranquillity and beauty. The lush green hills in the backdrop with many royal palaces along its banks is a cherry on the cake. The beautiful City Palace of Udaipur broadens along the eastern banks while the Mohan Mandir is situated in the north-east corner. The renowned Lake Palace is perfectly perched in the middle, and there is the Jag Mandir on the Jag Island. Fateh Sagar Lake

Lying to the north-west of Udaipur, Fateh Sagar Lake is a sparkling lake which is one of the major tourist spots in the city. Surrounded by the Aravalli Hills, it is the second largest artificial lake in the city and is known for its scenic beauty. The atmosphere here is calm, and tourists are bound to find themselves enthralled by the blanket of tranquillity the place warms them up with. One can easily go around the circumference of the Fateh Sagar Lake by driving on the Moti Magri Road and get a fantastic view of the entire lake. The Fateh Sagar Lake is sprawled over an area of one square kilometre and is divided into three distinct islands. The second island has a public park with water-jet fountains. The third island comprises of the best solar observing site in all of Asia, the Udaipur Solar Observatory. Jaisamand Lake

Spanning across an area of about 100 sq. Km, Jaisamand Lake is the second largest artificial lake in the country after Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar. It is surrounded by the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to a variety of rare animals and migratory birds. The summer palaces of Queens of Udaipur also form a beautiful backdrop. Situated in seamlessly beautiful surroundings, it is a place to rejoice. On its marble dam, there are six cenotaphs and a temple dedicated to Shiva at the centre. The temple is proof that the people of Mewar were highly committed towards the divine power. Locals know it by the name of Dhebar Lake as well. The lake was constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 17th century, to be more precise in 1685 while he was building a dam across the Gomti river. The 'Ocean of Victory', as its name suggests, was inaugurated on June 2, 1691. It has three islands which are inhabited by the tribe of Bhil Minas. The two bigger islands are called Baba ka Magra and the small island is known as Piari. To its north, the lake has a palace with a courtyard and a pavilion of 12 pillars to its south. There is also a massive bund at the height of over 1200ft on the lake. The Jaisamand lake is clean, beautiful and a nature lover's real paradise. Away from the turmoil of the city, this place of utmost peace is a must visit.

Eklingji Temple

Eklingji Temple is one of the most popular temples of Rajasthan and is sited at a distance of 22 km in the north of Udaipur. Eklingnath Temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva of the Hindu religion and its brilliant architecture drives several tourists here every year. This double-storied temple looks magnificent with its pyramidal style of roof and uniquely carved tower. The outer walls of the temple are stretched with steps that lower touching the serene waters. Inside the arena, the main temple is a huge pillared hall or 'mandap' that is sheltered by heavy pyramidal roof Eklingji Temple located in Udaipur district of Rajasthan is one of the most famous temples in India. Established in 734 A.D. by Bappa Rawal, Eklingji has been the ruling idol of Mewar rulers.. On entering this hall, you will be seeing a beautiful silver image of Nandi and inside the temple there are two other images of Nandi carved in black stone and brass respectively. This temple is filled with an enthralling fragrance and is known for a striking four-faced idol of Eklingji (Lord Shiva) that is made out of black marble. Its height ranges around 50 feet and its four faces depict four forms of Lord Shiva. The Shivlinga garlanded by a silver snake is a major tourist attraction.
